Well BT have come out and said that this is what they are going to be offering their employees. The staff are being told they can even take a 25% lump sum of their annual pay and take the whole year off, staying at home or getting a holiday off their own back. Another option that is really being pushed forward is to ask some employees to take a one thousand pound lump sum and then go part time for the rest of the year.

So what’s spurred this on? Well basically BT has announced they have made over a whopping 1 billion pounds loss in the first three months of this tax year. So their plan is to reduce the wages to all of their one hundred thousand staff, this way they can save a large sum of spending fees.

So looking at this in a positive light, what do the employees get out of this? Taking the time to be with the family will be nice, especially if the spouse is working, you will still have some income. The other thing that they do mention, is that nobody will be pushed or forced into taking these options. This also means that some can embark on some very long trips or soul searching holidays. Relaxing St Lucia holidays or Egypt Holidays.

However there are problems with this as well, people wont be able to afford to go on any of these holidays. It may be easy for some people to carry on the year with only a small amount of cash but those with families may struggle. So is BT on the right track here? Personally I believe that BT needs to find other ways of sorting out the business instead of letting its employees take the fall.

However if you are one of the lucky ones who can still afford Caribbean holidays, then you may as well enjoy the break.

There has always been fascination with celebrities, where they go and what they do on their holidays. The Caribbean looks to have become the meeting place for celebrities these days. Wayne and Coleen Rooney are the two most recent to be spotted on their Barbados holidays. Diving has become a big tourist pull in Egypt, it has allowed them to turn over much more money in the tourism industry due to the beautiful diving sites in the Red Sea.

So go ahead and try some Mexico holidays or try something more Caribbean like Grenada holidays or Tobago holidays, prices for all of these places have dropped dramatically, your sure to find something you like. If you think of it this way, your just as likely to catch Swine Flu anywhere in the world because it has traveled the globe.

Stirling Castle

Two hundred and fifty feet above the city of Stirling, standing guard, and surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs is Stirling Castle. Stirling Castle is incredibly important in Scotland’s history, there have been many coronations within the castle, including Mary Queen of Scots coronation in 1543. Stirling Castle was also witness to a shocking murder in 1452. The 8th Earl of Douglas was victim to James II in 1452. Stirling Castle is the home of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, although they are, unfortunately no longer stationed there. However, the regimental museum of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, can be found inside the castle.

Stirling Old Town Jail

The Stirling Old Town Jail of today was not the first jail in Stirling, for four hundred years, Stirling’s prisoners were housed in the Old Tollbooth Jail. This jail was shockingly overcrowded, and smelt foul, with 24 prisoners per cell, and zero toilet facilities. The Tollbooth jail was condemned, because of the awful living conditions there, and in 1847 the current jail was opened. Although the jail was classed as a custodial jail, from 1888 to 1935, it was also the only military jail in Scotland. Today the Stirling Old Town Jail is a tourist attraction, and was only renovated in the 1990’s. As well as guided tours, there is a glass paneled lift that rises to a viewing platform at the top of the jail. From commanding viewpoint a person is able to gaze out across the Forth Valley, and soak in the atmosphere of the Highland mountains.

Argyll’s Lodging

Argyll’s Lodging is on Castle Wynd, located in the middle of Stirling and is Scotland’s finest existing renaissance house. The house was erected circa 1630, by Sir William Alexander, founder of Nova Scotia and Viscount Canada. Sir William Alexander who became Secretary of State for Scotland, and then became the first Earl of Stirling. Argyll’s Lodging became the property of the Argyll family on his death and was extended by the ninth Earl in 1666. The rooms which include the dining room, drawing room, bed chamber and laigh hall, have all been sympathetically restored and furnished, as they would have been when the ninth Earl lived there, around 1680.
