Most people take a pair of sunglasses for granted. They have been both a functional and fashionable accessory for many years now.You can buy sunglasses from $3 upwards these days and experts predict that each of us will own 35 pairs on average in our lifetime. But why is it vital that you own a pair and why should you take them with you wherever you travel
Driving. A lot of people choose to hire a car when they are abroad, especially when taking Caribbean holidays. On top of this lots of people drive to holiday locations if they are within a reasonable distance.Accidents happen every year abroad when people are distracted when the sun gets in their eyes or even through drivers overheating. By wearing a pair of sunnies it will keep the sun off a portion of the face and therefore not allow the head to heat up as much. They can also reduce strain on the eyes are stop the suns rays from getting in them.

If you do not wear sun glasses for your whole, lets say Barbados holidays, you run the risk of getting slightly more permanent blindness. two main problems can happen when the suns rays enter the eyes for prolonged periods. The retina part of the eye can be broken down by prolonged exposure and also the muscles of the eye that produce fine motor movements can become strained. Blindness can result from either of these but more often than not you will suffer from distorted vision
Cancer. The sun can only cause cancer of the skin but can also cause cancer of the eyes. U.V rays alter the DNA make up of cells within the sensitive eye tissue can case these cells to multiply in a cancerous way. Eye cancer is a very difficult form to treat so often leads to the sufferer having surround tissue removed and sometimes even the whole eye. If you want to help protect the eyes from cancer, wear sunglasses as much as possible and make sure they are of a high standard with 100% UV protection
