Many people are completely unaware of how much they can save on their car hire charges by booking in advance. These days there are some excellent online services for travelers that make the process of comparing prices and reserving your hire car an absolute breeze.

There are, of course, certain times of years when the demand for car hire increases. The summer school holidays and Christmas are notoriously busy. If you really need to hire a car during these high demand periods be certain to compare prices and bookk well in advance.

The car hire industry is incredibly competitive with a whole host of companies trying to beat each other on price and service. The internet has made it simple to compare the prices and vehicle availability from all of the reputable car hire firms.

One such service is provided by Gosimply.com the travel services comparison site, noted for their exceptionally cheap airport parking, airport hotels and lounges services. The simple to use comparison facility makes it really easy to get a up to date, accurate price comparison. The Gosimply car hire services is not restricted to the UK but it also provides car hire from all popular international destinations. All you have to provide are the dates when you want to hire the car and the places where you want to pick up and return the vehicle, then hit the ‘compare prices’ button.

Gosimply.com will then search and identify a number of vehicles that meet your requirements. The available cars are immediately presented with the cheapest at the top of the list but you can choose to re-sort the page by various criteria including the vehicle size and type. You can also choose from a number of additional options that may be important such as an automatic gearbox, air conditioning and GPS.

The Gosimply.com comparison facility is one of those exceptional comparison tools that make me wonder how I managed without. Almost unbelievably quickly you will be provided with a list fo cars that meet your requirements that would have taken hours to research if you had been forced to manually visit each of the car hire websites independently.

The Wonderful Newmarket Town, County Cork, Ireland

Co. Cork has to be one of the most splendid parts of a beautiful country, and the small market town of Newmarket is one of its unique market towns.

Newmarket – or, in the original Irish tongue, Áth Trasna – the intersection at the ford, is in the Barony of Duhallow, in the north-west of County Cork. Surrounded by Kerry and Limerick, and with the famous Blackwater river flowing close by, brimming with its unbeatable salmon, it is a part of Ireland that you would be crazy to ignore.

The province of Newmarket itself, with hardly 2,500 inhabitants, befits the adjective ’sleepy’ almost as well as anywhere in the country – unless you appear to be passing through after an extremely important G.A.A. Victory, when the town’s own song, Up Up Newmarket, will be heard – they take their sport absolutely seriously here.

Positioned on a gorge surrounded by the foothills of the Mulmuaghreirk Mountains, where Fionn (the legendary Finn McCool) pursued the wild boar and the stag, Newmarket also has a number of amusing pre-historic places around it – a cairn, gallauns (boundary stones) and forts. It is, indeed, a place full of Irish history; John Philpot Curran was born here and his daughter, Sarah, was the love of rebel chieftain Robert Emmet. Just outside the town is the splendid Island Wood, that houses the Twelve Apostles Tree – it has 12 smaller trunks shooting out from out of its main trunk. This isolated wooded area, with the River Dalua, packed with salmon and trout, drifting beautifully through it, is an appropriately popular spot for solitary contemplation.

The Island Wood in Newmarket, Co. Cork, Ireland, in fact, has been incorporated into a 100-mile trek known as the Duhallow Trail, exploring this enchantingly quiet portion of the world, and passing though Newmarket itself. Other especially remarkable parts of the trail are the mesmerizing town of Kanturk and its popular castle, managed by An Taisce – The National Trust for Ireland and a magnificent building. At the adjacent graveyard of Clonfert, there is a touching, small Celtic cross denoting the massed burial site of scores of victims of the Great Famine.

In Newmarket itself you will get to see the lively James O’Keefe Institute – originally a housedwelling place built in 1725 for the Aldworth family, a member of which had set up the town a century earlier. this is now a flourishing centre for the local community.

There are no hotels in Newmarket, Co. Cork,, Ireland but still there are several wonderful guesthouses or places doing B&B in the area. K.D.’s Fast Food, has a good name for the quality of its menu and its amiable aura and there are other places where you can find good food, such as Marie’s Restaurant, in the Main Street. It is certainly a town where you can be sure of a genuine, warm Cork welcome.

County Cork has a wide range of splendid attractions for visitors. The wonderful city of Cork itself is of course world famous. The superb blue flag beaches of Ballybunnion are nearby. Blarney Castle and Killarney are just a short drive away. And there are superbly exotic golf courses, lakes, hill-sides and rivers.

Situated on the R576, at its joining with the R578, Newmarket, one of Co. Cork’s hidden treasures, should be part of everyone’s agenda when they’re in Ireland’s southwestern corner.

Kanturk Castle, Co. Cork Ireland – What’s The Story

“A man’s home is his castle…” so the saying affirms. Iironically in this case, it looks like Kanturk Castle, County Cork, Ireland never became a home. Nevertheless, what did get constructed was and is magnificent. The main structure is made up of 4 story, while each tower reaches five story.

Today as you walk around this great old building, it’s hard to think that it was constructed in about 1601. Twenty scores are over and it is still standing strong. ‘Bualadh bos’ to the stonemasons. (Bualadh bos is Irish/Gaelic for applause or praise) Legend says that sEven stone masons all named John erected the Castle. So at one time the building was known as “Carrig-na-Shane-Saor” i.e. The Rock of John the Mason.

There are different beliefs on whom specifically the castle was constructed for. Some say it was MacDonogh McCarthy, while others believe it was Dermot McOwen. Even the dating of the castle cannot be agreed upon. Generally it is said to be late 16th century early 17th century.

Why was it that he never lived in it? Well, there is some more to that adage: ‘A man’s home is his castle …, but that is, ‘until the Queen arrives’. The neighbors of Kanturk Castle were getting a bit concerned about the size of this edifice and to the intentions of its existence. The Privy Council, which was like close consultants to the Queen of England at the time, was made aware of this and ordered the work on the structure to stop. Therefore, ‘A man’s home is his castle until the queen arrives’.

So agitated the overlord was, it’s believed that he shattered the leaded glass and the tiles and flung them into the river.

Down through time after that the property changed ownership numerous times. Now it is controlled by An Taisce – The National Trust for Ireland, since July 14th 2000.

Why not come and visit Kanturk Castle, Co. Cork, Ireland for yourself. As you walk around think of existing in the 15/1600s with the Mac Donagh MacCarthy’s at Kanturk Castle.

Touted as one of the foremost attractions of Madrid is Retiro Park (in Spanish it is Parque del Buen Retiro). Beautiful promenades and pathways wind through it, there is a quiet lake, stunning memorials and sculptures as well as numerous festivities and fun happenings.

Following its opening in the year 1868 it has housed royalty in gorgeous palaces as well as been the site for various important buildings throughout history. Due to the Napoleonic wars many structures were lost or are barely discernible however today there are numerous sites still worth seeing.

Popular sites within the park include the Palacio de Cristal, a glass structure originally used to house exotic plants, and the Palacio de Velzquez, a former industrial exhibition house now mainly used to display art. Other amazing sites are Ejercito, a preeminent museum for military artifacts and Casn where you will find world renowned paintings from the 18 and 19 hundreds.

There are many fantastic places to explore, but the heart of the park lies within Estanque del Retiro, the large lake at the northern entrance. Not surprisingly summer is one of the more popular times for the park when entire families can be found taking in the beautiful surroundings along the perimeter of the lake. For those wishing for a little activity, you can rent a boat from one of the local vendors there and row around it.

Another beautiful feature of the park is the Rosaleda rose garden, enjoyed by both tourists and natives, as well as the nearby Cecilia Rodriguez gardens and Serrano Street’s outstanding restaurants.

There are many outdoor cafes in and around the park for you to sample a range of Spanish cuisine. It is also home to various entertainment forms such as dancers, street musicians, fortune tellers, and jugglers all alongside the local citizens that are out and about for a simple walk.

Going To Spain : Puerta Del Sol

The Spanish called it the “Gate of the Sun” and for visitors to Spain’s Puerta del Sol, they’ll know exactly what the Spaniards were talking about.

The gates used to be the entrance to the city of Madrid. In the 15th century, like numerous medieval towns, Madrid was surrounded by a wall to protect it, and people could only go in through the gates. The name of the gate became well known through out the trading world because Spain at one time was the center of the known world. Even after the fall of Madrid’s walls, the gates remained a place for tradesmen and dignitaries alike to meet. As a matter of fact, it remains the major meeting point in Madrid even today.

Breathtaking examples of architecture are found throughout the area, as well as numerous statues and monuments, including a famous sculpture of a bear eating some fruit from a madrone tree, which is what the name “Madrid” is derived from; the bear is also a very powerful symbol for the people of Madrid.

The House of the Post Office, is one of Madrid’s most important buildings, and it is the main point for the celebrations of the New Year. There is also a slab of paving that marks the area that the six major highways come from, that go around Spain. That means it’s not just a good place to start exploring the city, but the whole country.

Just a short distance away from Puerta del Sol you can visit other tourist attractions, like the Plaza Mayor or the Palacio Real; the Royal Palace. The city’s governmental body, Parliament, is also a short distance away. You can board a train at the Metro station and visit this location.

Dozens of side streets house shops, restaurants and other attractions, so at least half a day should be set aside for a visit. But Madrid and Puerta del Sol are not just places to visit during the daylight hours. At night is when the real fun begins; as bars and cantinas and cafes become packed with tourists and residents, the street performers come out and entertain all.

Recently a group of colleagues went on a road trip. Needless to say the first bickering was over whose car will be used for the trip. The most bothersome of all the questions was the service, wear and tear of the car to be used. Needless to say, nobody really wanted to use their car for obvious reasons. After much squabbling and debate it was decided that they will hire a car from a so-called reputable agent.

As it was off peak season, there were many offers on cheap car rentals on the market. There were many cheap car rental agents to choose from, and frankly that suited everybody’s pocket. But the drama was not over, as our good friends had not really done much research on the cheap car rentals in terms of where the real cost was.

As much as we are coastally bombarded by the sweet promises of excellent deals and savings on cheap car rentals, promising cheap and affordable hassle free deals; he fine print in the contract will always remain a real mystery to us all.

Is Cheap Really Cheap?

One needs to understand that agents generally advertise cheap car rental deals when they have excess vehicles in their fleet. Off peak season also generally promotes and lure people towards the option of a cheap car rental. Competition may also be a factor towards agents lowering their prices.

Although the real cost saving on the cheap car rental deals in time; in terms of time saved should one decide to fly to you destination and then rent a car to be mobile where you going. In this view I would support the idea of cheap car rental being the way to go. However, in lieu of the fact that there are unscrupulous dealers and agents making cheap car rentals and a money monger of a cheap one way car rental.

So, for all the people who wish to make a vacation a good time to relax without the worry and stress of the hidden cost in cheap car rental deals, here is the word of advice to you:

  • Do your homework
  • Do your research
  • Don’t be afraid to shop around for a quotation
  • Do your math
  • Check the real cost of the insurance cover – preferably take the maximum insurance cover
  • Read the fine print
  • Don’t be afraid to ask the questions on the cheap car rental deal being offered.
  • Explore alternative options

Don’t be taken for a ride on cheap self drive car rental deals albeit the affordable and easy way to go the responsibility is yours to ensure that you know exactly what you are getting yourself into.

The stress of the wedding planning doesn’t always end with the wedding party, particularly if you don’t see to all the details of the long-waited for honeymoon. Have a look over the following words of advice for a perfect honeymoon travel regardless of whether you choose the car, the train, the plane or the boat as a means of transportation.

Tickets booking and hotel reservations should be taken care of in advance to prevent any inconveniences. If you know how to make good planning you’ll benefit from great rebates; airlines usually sell all classes of seats at the best prices, but as the departure date approaches, only the business class seats remain available.

Moreover, travel agencies have special honeymoon travel packages for honeymooners, with all sorts of options included. Hence, when you approach an agency for offers and quotes make sure you specify that you are looking for a honeymoon travel solution. Some go for the all inclusive variant and leave it to the agency to deal with everything from the flight details to the lodging, while other couples prefer to get involved actively in the planning.

Smart packing is another honeymoon travel tip some people fail to follow particularly when going to areas with warmer climates. This is not about taking sweaters and jackets when going to Hawaii, but rather about choosing to have some extra apparel items available for all sorts of events, as you may want to wear something other than slippers and t-shirts. Don’t forget to take some water, a few snacks and the essentials necessary for the trip. By essentials I mean a list of emergency phone numbers, credit cards, cash and passports.

There are some very personal items that make honeymoon travel all the more rewarding. Thus, you can pack a CD with very meaningful love songs, eventually music from the wedding reception or some special rhythms to enjoy in a romantic setting. Then, don’t forget that this is a great time to pamper yourself with all sorts of special treats, so don’t be shy to ask for what you want at the hotel.

Should there be any incidents, try not to be exaggerate, keep everything under control and focus on the memorable parts of your honeymoon.
